Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we hope will be helpful:

Where are you located and what time do you rehearse?

Regular rehearsals are held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 2240 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  If you need directions, please click here

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, we have an annual show in either the spring or fall.  We also participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in March or April each year.  We tend to perform in and around our area about 2-4 times per quarter for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as participating in holiday events.  Members are expected to attend coaching sessions as scheduled.

What is Sweet Adelines International?

It is the non-profit organization our chorus or “chapter” belongs to which was founded in 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma under its orginal name of Sweet Adelines, Inc.  Today, known as Sweet Adelines International, Tulsa is the home of the headquarters office.  The organization has grown to 30,000+ members around the world and in all of the 50 US states.

What is the audition procedure?

Prospective members are encouraged to attend 4 rehearsals before auditioning.  The audition takes the form of a set piece, which is sung by the individual along with three members of the Music Team.  The piece must be sung from memory, as no music is used in performance situations.

Do I have to be a great singer?

We believe that just about anyone can be a great singer and there are amazing opportunities for growth and education to help you release the great singer within!  Each week, you'll receive direction from our Master Director, Nancy Field, and her Music Team.  You'll learn new and exciting ways to bring out the best in you!

How do I learn the songs?

You will be given excellent learning media including sheet music and learning vocal tracks to take home and sing along with.  You’ll also be given opportunities to learn at rehearsals where we often break into sectional rehearsals and small groups to hone in our music and learn it at a higher level.
